My favorite time to pray is the morning. I started a new job in the fall with an hour commute. I treasure every second of bumper to bumper traffic, because it is time alone with God. Starting your day with Jesus in the presence of our Father, the creator of the universe, is a pure joy. You can worship and give him every care, every family member, every worry. Sometimes, when I am tired, my mind wanders, but God reminds me that if I turn those things I am dwelling on into prayers, I can actually see a difference and I DO!
This psalm focuses on worship in the morning, which will carry through your day like a beautiful fragrance.
It also, (like a good psalm of David), acknowledges that we have enemies. In a world that makes you feel like it’s a crime to call a spade a spade, in a world that calls good evil and evil good, take heart in knowing that King David definitely prayed for deliverance from his enemies.
Do not let the world or the media or anyone who misunderstands God, his character or his grace make you think that you cannot pray against the onslaught of your enemies. As long as you walk in forgiveness and pray for your enemies to be saved, you will have the direction of God when praying for deliverance. In wicked times, when we are not so comfortable on public transportation or even in a school building, we certainly can know God has our back and will deliver us from the Evil one and from evil!

A Prayer for Guidance
To the Chief Musician. With flutes.[a] A Psalm of David.
Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
Nor shall evil dwell with You.
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
You hate all workers of iniquity.
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;
The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy;
In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;
Make Your way straight before my face.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward part is destruction;
Their throat is an open tomb;
They flatter with their tongue.
Pronounce them guilty, O God!

You hear me! Thank tou that you hear me! I trust in you!

God, if there is any wicked way in me, cleanse me. I want my ways to be your ways. Help me not to be deceived when I see people sinning and condoning sin. Remove my confusion. There is no joy you take in sin. You came to remove our sin and to set us free from its hold on us.
Those who do not trust in your son are enemies of God and set themselves against you. But, you intervene with Grace for all who hear your voice and trust in Jesus Christ.
God I pray right now for those who are against you, that they might come to know you as Lord and savior! God right now I pray for ________ that they will repent of their sin and turn to Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; Lord, you say all liars will be cast into the lake of fire. Please remove all falsehood from me and fill me with truth and the Holy Spirit. By the grace of God I trust you to do a cleansing work in my heart so that I will speak the language of my father in heaven, the language of truth. May I love truth, Lord. If Satan is holding me captive with lies, I rebuke a lying spirit and command it to leave me in Jesus name! I want to walk in the truth of Christ. May my life be filled with consistency and with your security, so I won’t even feel the need to lie to make myself look good, in Jesus name. May I obey you so I won’t be tempted to lie to cover up my sin. Please let me walk in the light as you are in the light. I command allow Satan’s powers over me today to be broken! I am in Christ and as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! I will no longer obey the lies of the devil!
Father, I declare this in you and not in my own power, because I am powerless in and of myself to keep myself pure. I trust you to keep me and I thank you that if I fail and confess my sin, you are faithful and just to forgive me of my sin and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness!
The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
Lord God, the world is full of hatred and bloodthirsty men and women. Rape abounds and there are whole ideologies that are established upon the desire to destroy the innocent. You abhor this, Lord. You do not condone it or want it to happen, but you want me to pray against it! In Jesus name, I pray that you uncover the plans of the enemy to bring destruction through men and women like this. Father, some are like the Apostle Paul and are zealous for a lie. Please speak to them in dreams and visions and allow them to turn from wickedness! If they will not turn, Lord, bring destruction quickly upon them that cannot carry out their evil plans. Raise up the governments of the earth to fight against this evil in Jesus name! May their plots fail and may they be discovered before they happen. Give wisdom to those who work uncovering these plots, in Jesus name! Give wisdom and unity to our national and world leaders against terrorism around the globe. May local, state and federal police work side by side and share information to bring evil to justice.
God, be with believers all around the globe suffering at the hands of sinful men! Deliver the children from evil and keep the families together in Jesus name. May the innocent be helped and those plotting be uncovered and rejected. May I not sin by forgetting to pray for the persecuted church, in Jesus name!
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; it is only by your mercy that I can stand in your presence! By your mercy, I can come with confidence into your throne room and you will do more than I can ask or imagine! Lord, fill me with your confidence in prayer, in Jesus name!
In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. I am I awe that you do not dwell in temples made with human hands, but you dwell in my heart through the Holy Spirit, because of Jesus. May I treat my body as it is, the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; there are those who say they love you, but stand as enemies of the cross, your Word and your truth. Convict them, Oh Lord, in Jesus name!

They flatter with their tongue. What they say sounds good to people. They speak of love, unity, peace and even Jesus, but they deny you and they condone sin and even play with it in an unrepentant way, approving of those who live in lifestyles that are an abomination to you.
Pronounce them guilty, O God!
Let them fall by their own counsels;
Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions,
For they have rebelled against You.
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
You are my shield, Oh Lord, my very great reward!
