Welcome to day 6 of our 12 days of Christmas prayer challenge. Jump in with us right here, and see that God wants to bless your life more and more as you go into his amazing, beautiful presence through Jesus Christ our Lord! The 12 Days of Christmas Prayer Challenge is to Encourage believers everywhere to get TOGETHER to unite in prayer. Yesterday’s challenge was to give God your loneliness.
Today, I challenge you to call up a friend, a family member, even an acquaintance….someone…anyone…and pray with them! Sometimes isolation is our worst enemy. Meet up for coffee, call someone on your commute. You don’t have to have the perfect words. God is perfect! He will give you the words and work in your imperfections. That’s why it’s called faith. It’s trusting in God to work in you in a way you can’t see now. You trust his love and his ability to do what he promised to do! (Our scripture today will show that promise to claim!)
Today we will be praying for the perfect love of God, through Jesus Christ his Son, to be poured out into our hearts! Before you read this prophecy that The Lord gave the prophet Isaiah, please ask God to work in your imperfections and to reveal his truth to you by his Spirit.
“Father God, I thank you that you are perfect and that you love me in my weakness and you sent Jesus to deliver me from my sin. Thank you that you pour out grace when we come to you in Jesus name. I ask for your grace and your Spirit to help me understand your Word so it will change and strengthen my heart, in Jesus name, AMEN!” (Amen means “so be it!”)
Isaiah 9
New International Version (NIV)
Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
Ready for the good news of God’s love this Christmas season?!
This prophecy was given hundreds of years before Christ’s birth. It foretold the plan of God to rescue the people who would come to him with empty hands. God loves us in the most deep, real way. He sees every detail of our lives. We cannot hide a single thought or action from him. Every day of our lives is accounted for. The NEVERTHELESS at the beginning of chapter 9 is referring to our tendency to turn away from God…our nature to be selfish and sinful and even the way that people turn to witchcraft and superstition to find hope or power. NEVERTHELESS…..God made a plan to deliver us from our sin and our oppression.
Mark 2:17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
No need to be fake with God. Be real. Be real about the darkness in your life. Be real about the things weighing you down. Be real about your struggles. Be real about your doubts. God will not reject you! That is TRUE love! BUT, here is what true love does. He will HEAL you.
Sin is a spiritual sickness. God did not send Jesus to leave us in our sin, but to deliver us from it! When you go to God’s hospital, he will give you a fresh infusion with the Blood of Jesus. He will not be afraid of the smell coming from the closets in your life. He will take the soul that is willing to admit they are broken and sinful and bring healing, forgiveness and a new beginning of faith.
The rod of your oppressor is the sin in your life and the sin of those who have hurt you. Jesus came to shatter the rod of these things in your life. Think of this as the chains of your spiritual and emotional slavery falling away as Jesus takes control! The ZEAL OF THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY will accomplish this! God is ZEALOUS to deliver you! Have FAITH!
The true love of God will come to you wherever you are, whatever stress you are going through, whatever you face and he will deliver those who are willing to repent and trust in Jesus Christ to remove your sin. Rest in the hospital of God’s grace today.
Let’s pray!
Giving God the unlovable, because he takes us as we are.
“Father, in Jesus name, today I am in awe of your zealous love. You know everything in my life that has brought you pain. You know every sin, every issue in my heart that I have held back from you, NEVERTHELESS, you made a plan to deliver me.
God, in some areas of my life I have opposed your will. There are parts of me that have fought you. I see your love in the middle of my rebellion and I am awestruck. I am thankful. I cannot comprehend your love. Forgive me for the rebellion in my life.
Father, thank you that you are full of grace and mercy and that the hospital of your grace will make me sound from head to toe. I need the infusion of the blood of Jesus in my life. Your blood will never lose it’s power. I have strayed, but you have stayed. I need a fresh move of you in my heart.
I repent for the things that give you grief. I ask for you to change my heart, in view of your mercy and love. Your lovingkindness draws me to you, Lord God. This Christmas, I want to be more connected to your love, acceptance and forgiveness than ever before.
Saturate my life with grace. I come to you as I am. Just as I am….I know you will accept me. You will not push me away. You will love me and bring me to life. Father, you gave your only Son to shatter the rod of slavery to sin that oppresses me. Jesus, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Your love is amazing. Your forgiveness is eternal. You know me and you see me for who I am, but you will not leave me in the death of my sin. Deliver me, oh God! Deliver me! I put my faith in your love and your power.
For those who are alone and hurting:
God, Isaiah 9 says “Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those in distress!” God, please remove gloom from my life. Restore my faith and hope. It says in your word that suffering produces perseverance and perseverance hope and hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by his Holy Spirit. Please give me perseverance in my trials. I am tired of fighting. I feel like I have no energy left.
But, God, this is a great place to be, because I am a miracle waiting to happen. I am the person you are wanting to pour your Spirit into to reveal love. Take my mess and my gloom and replace it Lord Jesus, with the peace and confidence of your presence. Shine your light into my deep darkness. May Christ dawn in my heart. Enlarge my territory and increase my joy.
Give me the strength to stand. In Jesus name, I stand in the authority of Christ against rejection, gloom, hopelessness and despair. I believe in Jesus! Jesus is not finished with my life. My life is worth living, because Jesus is in control. I stand against every power of hell that is opposing me and declare that I belong to Jesus and Satan, you must flee!
God, give me prayer warriors to pray with. Help me and teach me how to fight for the truth and to stand in your love.
Prayer for walls to come down and for God’s power to come in fullness!
God forgive me for pride in my heart. You resist the proud but give strength to the humble. Forgive me for pride in my relationships that has caused friction, tension and conflict, in Jesus name. God heal my relationships that are strained because of prideful thoughts or feelings that I have and harbor. I can’t control others, but I can submit to you and trust you with my heart. I pray for the person I am struggling with that you will soften their heart towards me and teach them to surrender their pride as well. Break the back of pride in my (marriage, friendships, family relationships) in Jesus name! Restore relationships that are broken. Pour love right into the middle of them. Help me to be proactive in the healing process, instead of playing or feeling like the victim. I pray that will not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, in Jesus name.
God turn the pride and selfishness in my life, heart and relationships into true self-sacrifice and true love that always hopes and always preservers. Help me to love the unlovable in my life. Help me to love like you do. Help me not to fall into spiritual pride if it takes time for the people I am praying for to change. Give me humility.
Father, bring me deeper into your presence. You are always pouring out and giving. Day after day and night after night you give and give and give. I need supernatural power through your Spirit so that I can be a testimony of who you are to the world. I am empty, fill me up with who you are! Fill me with your love and the energy and power that raised Jesus from the dead! Anoint my life for your purposes, oh Lord my God!
God may I be a force for good in this world. May I honor you and lift up the broken and fallen. May your love flow to me and through me to others around me.
Thank you for your unconditional love and the power to change my life. In Jesus name, Amen!
