We need to regain what we have lost. What have we lost? We have lost our identity. For thousands of years, humanity has tied its honor to identity. We were created by The living and eternal God in his image. Yet, we have forgotten our creator and exchanged our identity in his family for chance …
Failure as a Parent Can Be Powerful
You may feel like a failure today, but failing is learning. Learning is powerful! So, failure is powerful. Your inadequacy as a mother is all you need to allow God to bring you into new territory and to grow you as a person!
Advent and God’s Endgame
When Jesus said, “It is finished,” on the cross, the Greek tense he spoke in tells us there is something mysteriously more than meets the eye in his declaration. My friend Joan Hill, who gave more than a decade of her life to developing Helps Studies Bible tools told me this, “Briana, Jesus could have …
A Call to Fast to End Abortion part 2
When Jonah was sent into Ninevah, he was sent with the message: "God will destroy his city in 40 days." Ninevah was a pagan city, yet the Lord sent a reluctant prophet to warn the people. God didn't want to destroy Ninevah. He didn't delight in its demise, so he sent a man of God …
Cleaning Out Your Closet for Greater Joy
So, why in the world would I show you all my dirty laundry? Well, not laundry. I would never show you that! But, why would I show you my mess? Because the Lord impressed something so precious on my heart, as I walked through the mess, stepping over wires from my husband's studio, and trying to find a square foot to set my bags down on after work. You see, I just finished speaking at a lovely weekend retreat called Revealed Retreat: Discover Who I Am in Christ. I challenged the ladies to give the Lord the deepest parts of their hearts - even the rooms of their hearts that they have shut the doors on for years. In the fight to stay positive and to keep from drowning in pain, sorrow and despair, people tend to avoid difficult conflict that arises when dealing with broken relationships and pain from the past. It's easier to ignore things and to just keep stuffing. These are things that may give us PTSD, if we decide to unpack them.
For the Love of My Daughter – What separation teaches me about love.
Today, in the bittersweet parting of ways with my college age daughter, I found profound perspective. I know the feeling of longing to have one more long walk, one more hug, one more shared couch with her head on my shoulder. Separation is an ache that reminds me of the relationship's tender value.
There’s More Than Enough At God’s Table For You
During the holidays, some of our fondest memories are meals with friends and family around tables laden with tender savory meats, hot creamy mashed potatoes and steaming side dishes. Beautiful, bright vegetables add color to the warmly decorated table. Special dishes come out, along with the candles, lace, nice silver and linen napkins, freshly pressed …

Saying Goodbye to My Friend Fear.
When I was 8, I stared at my friend's mom as she said, "I love horror movies!!" "Why?" I was perplexed. "Why would you want something in your mind that is scary? What is there to love?" "I just think fear feels delicious!" She said very excited. Hmmm, I thought. That is weird. I hate …
Cutting the Silver Cord
Today, I dropped my daughter off to school with track forms in hand. So excited to try her "hand" at running, she woke up early this morning and made everyone omelets. I love my sweet daughter, my first-born. Born in the very early days of my adulthood, virtually a child myself, my Ariel birthed me …
Raising Spiritual Children, from Takers to Teachers.
Here I am teaching VBS a month before my third baby was born. I never would have thought this was possible, after my first baby. God gives us the growth. The first week after my daughter was born, I was baptized into the fire of motherhood. Life before my Ariel was simpler. I did what …
