Thank you for joining with us to pray, fast and to seek the Lord’s face for mercy, grace and power to overcome in the dark times we are living in. We are praying and fasting on July 25th, 2020 at Rhodes Grove Camp from 9AM to 1PM. Even if you cannot join us in person, please join with us in spirit- seeking the Lord for mercy, for strength, for wisdom, for revelation and leading by his Holy Spirit.
To join us in fasting- ask the Lord how to approach your time without food. Perhaps you will fast from lunch on one day to lunch the next day. Maybe, you will simply skip breakfast and lunch and only drink liquids that day. Whatever you do, please stay hydrated and be sure to contact your doctor for advice if you have any health concerns that would make fasting dangerous for you. Some people like to dedicate a specific meal to the Lord every day – for a given period of time- to pray. This may look like not eating from 9am to 5pm every day for a week and taking your lunch time to pray and seek the face of the Lord. Whatever you do, commit it to the Lord in prayer.
Prayer Guide for National Prayer of Repentance
Lord, today we unite with fellow Christians from many denominations and backgrounds, coming before you, asking you to help us. We humble ourselves, not only today, but every day. Hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land. We have been proud and arrogant as individuals, families, churches and as a nation. You continually bless us, and we have taken your blessings for granted. You are so worthy of our love and devotion, but we have forgotten you and ignored your word. We sincerely repent of our personal and national sins. We repent of the commission of the sins to include:
Church issues-Lord forgive us as the Body of Christ for allowing programs, schedules and popularity to dictate how we do church, instead of focusing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgive us for trying to boost our numbers in our churches by watering down the Gospel; for putting on a show instead of being convicted and guided by the Holy Spirit to help wins souls and to transform people’s lives.
Faithlessness, lovelessness- Lord forgive us for not trusting in your word. For believing that we are rich and in need of nothing. We have not believed your word enough to share Jesus. We have followed politicians, celebrities and ideals that do not represent who you are.
Lord, we are reminded of your words to the Laodicean church in Revelation 2:14-22 “These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. 21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Lord, we hear you. We are answering you today. We are here to repent!
Heart Issues- God help us to take responsibility for our hearts, capturing our thoughts and repenting of the sinful living that is not of you. Lord forgive us for turning our backs on you to seek selfish desires. Lord forgive us for putting our idols before you, and being self centered- indulging our flesh and becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah. In Ezekiel 16: 48-51 you said “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done. “ ‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. 51 Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done.” Forgive us, Lord. Do not hold this sin against us or our children. We are in Christ Jesus. We have trusted in your son.
Lord forgive us for the sin of pride
Lord forgive us for the sin of greed
Lord forgive us for the sin of complacency
Lord forgive us for the sin of rebellion against authority
Lord forgive us for the sin of hatred
Lord forgive us for the sin of bitterrness and unforgiveness
Division and Backbiting- Father, in Jesus’ mighty name, forgive us for allowing divisiveness to tear us apart. We are fighting one against another, divided by politics, race, and social classes. We have not valued unity and love. We have allowed offensiveness and anger to burn inside of us against our brothers and sisters. We have exalted false peace in the right hand and grasped hatred, destruction and judgement with the left. Forgive us for allowing division to enter into relationships on a personal and national level.
Racism- Father, we repent for the sin of judging a person by the color of his or her skin. We repent for not showing empathy for those who are hurting from the sin of racism. Help us to have your eyes to see and your ears to hear the pain of others. Forgive our nation for the sin of slavery, segregation, and all forms of racism over the hundreds of years of colonization and the inception of our nation. Break the power of the hatred and anger that is boiling over right now, due to the unjust acts of certain police officers who did not honor their high calling of authority, but used it to kill the innocent. Make the mountains low and the valleys high, so that any injustice in our land will be cleansed. Wash over our nation and cleanse us from the sin, the confusion, and the anarchy that is rising up. Bring peace and revival in the middle of the hurt. Bring healing to those who live in fear everyday from this. Father God, you created each man and woman in your own image. We declare this today- that in Jesus – we all are equal. Lord, we support our police and pray that you will protect them and deliver them from evil. Help them to serve in the line of duty with justice and righteousness.
Corruption- Bring justice and righteousness to the halls of justice again. Allow corruption to be exposed. We ask that you will allow those who are corrupt men and women to be exposed and removed from their positions of authority and replaced with God-fearing leaders. Forgive us for political corruption and corruption within the places that are meant to be halls of truth, in Jesus’ name. Raise up believers in Jesus to take seats of authority in the positions of government and in our police forces around the nation.
Immorality- 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
Sexual sins –
*Forgive us as a church for being influenced and entertained by sensuality and sexual content in our media outlets (TV, music, movies, social media)
*p-rnogr-phy- forgive us for approving of and using p-rnogr-aphy, for not protecting our children from it and for allowing it to corrupt the entire world. We have become like Babylon the Great in Revelation 18,
“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”
Se-ualizing our children – Forgive us for being the number one nation on the planet for child traff-c-ing. Forgive us for allowing this to go on under the radar and for creating an environment where it can thrive. Protect and deliver those who are slaves to s-x traff-iking, dear Lord. Uncover the corruption of this terrible sin. Forgive us and heal our land. Uncover the plots of evil people who are harming the innocent. Rescue those trapped in this vicious and terrible slavery.
Adultery and divorce- forgive us for the breakdown of the home. Forgive us for not loving well in our marriages. Forgive us for allowing, overlooking and enabling abuse in Christian homes.
Fornication- forgive us for sexual immorality, and for allowing and endorsing permissive lifestyles.
Making sex an idol- Forgive us for making sexuality an idol that is exalted above your God-given ordained purposed for marriage and intimacy. Forgive us for allowing the world and Hollywood to tell us what is right and wrong in this area.
Abortion – Lord, the blood of the innocent cry out to you from the ground. Please forgive our nation for the sin of abortion. Forgive us for valuing convenience and career over the life of the innocent. Lord, as believers in Jesus, we thank you that you forgive us for our past sin and do not hold it against us. When we confess our sin you are faithful and just to forgive us of our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Forgive us for labeling abortion as healthcare and protecting the murder of children. As believers in Jesus Christ, we renounce the sin of abortion. We ask, oh Lord, that you show us mercy and protect us as your judgement comes on the nation for this great sin. We pray for those women who are in distress because of rape or incest. We pray for those women who are being told they have no options and they have no hope. Give them hope by your Spirit. Lead them to believers who are willing and able to help in your power. Forgive the followers of Jesus in our land who spend more time loudly opposing abortion without loudly proclaiming the gospel of grace that brings answers to those who are alone and afraid. Change their hearts to be people who seek to bring your message of hope. Help us to help those in need. Show us women who are in need! Raise up more believers to adopt, and to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this broken world. Forgive our nation for being a nation of fatherlessness. So many women are left alone to raise children alone. Forgive the men for not stepping up to the plate. Convict the men of our nation for their sin of abandoning their roles as fathers and pushing women to get abortions. In Jesus’ name. Lord, have mercy on our souls!
Perversion- Forgive us for approving of and celebrating sexual perversions in our society. Romans 1:18-21 “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Forgive us, Oh Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Despite the prompting of your word, we have become the “me” generation thinking only of what we can benefit from. We have become absorbed in our own lives through selfish choices. We have forgotten your promises that assure of that you will provide all that we need. Now our nation is falling under judgment; natural disasters, wars on many fronts, rogue nations hate us and international terrorists have penetrated our borders. We are seeing economic collapse crippling entire regions; millions are out of work, corruption is splashed across the headlines of our newspapers exposing the sins of our leaders. Marriages are crumbling because of sexual immorality, our children are being chained in
addictions.
Heavenly Father we are in need of your assistance. The enemy is seeking to steal kill and destroy our churches. Your promise Lord is that the gates of hell will not prevail against your church. We ask for your mercy and grace to fall upon this nation and for your love to penetrate the very fiber of our beings. We are undeserving of your mercy, but your word says that you are patient, kind, loving, merciful and long-suffering. Please hear our prayers, not because of who we are but because of who you are. And we will give you all glory, honor and praise.
Lord, we cry out to you today. Hear our cry. Help us to seek Your face. Help us to turn from our wicked ways. Lord heal our land. Show us mercy! Forgive our sins and cleanse us today Lord. Bring a revival upon our churches Lord, reign down on our churches the full power of your Holy Spirit. Purge compromise from our hearts, our churches, our relationships and set our souls on fire for you Lord. Raise up godly leaders to show your light and salt our lands. Help us to seek you first and keep you Holy in all we do. We pray all of this in the precious name of Jesus, believing and knowing that your word declares, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” We give you all the honor, glory and praise. May your kingdom come quickly and may your will be done on Earth and in Heaven.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
Grace and Peace. In the spirit of our common Christianity, I can join you in these prayers. God bless.
