21 Days of Fasting and Prayer for our Children and Grandchildren – Day 19 Faith is the Victory!

It’s time to step out of passivity into passion, hopelessness to hope and victimhood to victory! The world has been dark for a long time and it has only gotten darker. When we spend our days shrinking back in fear, we put our own lights out.

John 1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

In Christ Jesus we have a light so powerful that no evil can put it out. Jesus tells us this in Luke 8:16 ““No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” The darkness cannot put out the light of Christ. No matter how evil things get- no matter how much hatred spreads – darkness cannot put out the light. The only thing that can put the light of Christ out in a person is the person who lives in fear.

When we live in fear of what others think, we water down the gospel or pull back our testimony. Fear will even dampen a prayer life into half-hearted sighs, when we should actually be storming the gates of hell. When we live in fear, deep down we do not actually believe that the light of Christ will actually bring freedom to the person living in darkness. Do we believe the gospel, or don’t we?

It’s so easy to fall into despair, when faced with a trial. It’s easy to experience how dark the night feels and forget how powerfully the morning sun breaks across the Eastern sky.

I wish that I had journaled when I was younger. I never journaled, because I was afraid that when I died my family would have access to all my deep inner thoughts. But, now I wish I had at least kept a prayer journal so I could look back at the bitter prayers and then turn the pages to see the sweet answers the Lord brought. The light in the darkness is real. The testimonies of answered prayers should shine like trophies in the hallways of our hearts and minds. When the dark days come, remember all the ways that the Lord has rescued you in the past.

What amazes me is that he never gives up on us. He loves us, even when we are afraid or cowardly. He loves us the same, even when we choose to listen to the lies of the darkness. When it comes time to pray for our children, do we actually believe that Jesus will give us the breakthrough? Do we believe that the Lord will exert his victory over the devil in our lives and the lives of our children? Do we stand in the authority of the light of Christ when we pray, or do we cower in fear?

1 John 5:1-5 says, “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

When we trust God and believe his promises, we can overcome things that seem completely dark and insurmountable – because we live with the hope of Christ in us.

Victory Prayer Points!

Father, in Jesus’ name, I come to you praising you for your victory. I thank you for your heart for my children and your heart for redemption. I praise you for your forgiveness and your patience. I know you are a good-good Father and you are a better parent than I am. You want my children and grandchildren to walk with you more than I do.

I align myself with your will in prayer. I agree with your will that my children and grandchildren are loved by you and I ask you to forgive their sins. Relent from any and all judgement for sins unrepented from and unleash your mercy and grace in the lives of my children and grandchildren. Bring your holy presence into my child’s life to work to cleanse, restore and heal, in Jesus’ name.

Speak boldly and clearly to my children. May they walk in your truth and may your truth set them free, in Jesus’ name. I pray for healing for my child/children (say by name). I pray for the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to flow over my children and bring the ultimate healing. I ask for physical, emotional, spiritual and mental healing, in Jesus’ mighty name. I ask for your transformational power to move and flow through my children.

Lord, may any of Satan’s schemes to harm my family be uncovered and destroyed. You promised Eve that her seed would crush the head of the devil and I claim that promise. I claim that Jesus Christ crushed Satan’s head when he died for our sin, defeated death and hell and rose from the grave. I pray that you will crush Satan under my feet, as it says in Romans 16:20, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan underneath your feet.”

I claim the victory of Christ in my family. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. I ask Lord that you will bring this to pass, that all my children will be taught of the Lord and great will be the peace of my children. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen!
