21 Days of Prayer and Fasting – Day 5

Do you need time of refreshment? Are you someone who looks for enjoyment at the spa, or taking a nap, but once the “rest” is over, you feel all the rest drain right out of you, when reality hits?

Proverbs tells us how to refresh our bones through repentance and surrender. Now, that is some deep down healing! Fasting is the ultimate way to surrender yourself before the Lord. When you humble yourself before the Lord with repentance, he will lift you up! Let’s read and ask the Lord to open our eyes, by his Spirit.

The Rewards of Wisdom

Proverbs 3:3 My son, do not forget my teaching,
But let your heart keep my commandments;
For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.

Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good [b]repute
In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your [c]body
And refreshment to your bones.

Honor the Lord from your wealth
And from the first of all your produce;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
11 My son, do not reject the [d]discipline of the Lord
Or loathe His reproof,
12 For whom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

13 How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
And the man who gains understanding.
14 For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than [e]jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.

16 [f]Long life is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways
And all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who hold her fast.

19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth,
By understanding He established the heavens.
20 By His knowledge the deeps were broken up
And the skies drip with dew.
21 My son, let them not [g]vanish from your sight;
Keep sound wisdom and discretion,
22 So they will be life to your soul
And adornment to your neck.
23 Then you will walk in your way securely
And your foot will not stumble.
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

25 Do not be afraid of sudden fear
Nor of the [h]onslaught of the wicked when it comes;
26 For the Lord will be [i]your confidence
And will keep your foot from being caught.

27 Do not withhold good from [j]those to whom it is due,
When it is in your power to do it.

28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,”
When you have it with you.
29 Do not devise harm against your neighbor,
While he lives securely beside you.
30 Do not contend with a man without cause,
If he has done you no harm.
31 Do not envy a man of violence
And do not choose any of his ways.
32 For the devious are an abomination to the Lord;
But [k]He is intimate with the upright.
33 The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked,
But He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.
34 Though He scoffs at the scoffers,
Yet He gives grace to the afflicted.
35 The wise will inherit honor,
But fools [l]display dishonor.

Prayer for healing and peace —

Oh Lord my God, you are awesome and mighty. You are righteous. You promise goodness to those who trust in you with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding.

I acknowledge you, Lord. In all my ways, be present. Be glorified. Fill every part of my life. Cleanse me from the folly of sin and fill me with the security of your wisdom.

Give me your Spirit of wisdom and revelation that I may know you intimately. Increase my wisdom and knowledge of you, that I may grow in love, hope and power in Christ Jesus my Lord, living a life worthy of you.

I turn away from evil. I ask you Lord to soften my heart and convict me of sin that would bring sickness and weakness. I pray that you forgive me for personal pride. Forgive me for being wise in my own eyes. I need your wisdom. I want to see myself, the world and you through your eyes. Be Thou my vision, Oh Lord of my heart. May I surrender to you so completely that your will be done in my life as it is in heaven.

Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin in my life, please forgive me. Bring healing to my body. Show me if there is anything I need to confess to you or another trusted believer, so my healing will quickly appear. Give me this sweet fellowship of the Spirit with other believers. Forgive me for any time when I have hardened myself to others. Forgive me for living a life independent of others in the Body of Christ.

(If you are not serving in a church) Lord, show me where you want me to serve you in your body. Help me to humble myself to be a servant, instead of just going to church to see what it has for me. Forgive me for complaining against those who serve, while living a consumer-style Christianity. I know you have a job for me, Lord. Lead me and call me by your Spirit. Prepare me for your work.

Bring healing to the parts of my life that are injured because of others. Bring times of refreshing from the Lord, as I forgive those who have sinned against me. You have given me so much grace and mercy. I now extend that to those around me who have taken advantage of me or hurt me, knowingly or unknowingly.

Forgive me to being critical and judgmental of others. Forgive me for jumping to conclusions about the intensions of their hearts. Help me to give others the benefit of the doubt and not to look down on others.

I take hold of wisdom. I put her around my neck like fine jewels. Forgive me for valuing things more than wisdom. Adorn my life with your precious jewels and your fruit of the Spirit. I hold fast to the tree of life…to wisdom from on high. I walk straight and true, according to the Word of the Lord.

When I lie down, I will not be afraid. When I lie down, I command my body, mind, soul and spirit to submit to the Lord and be at peace. Lord, bring peace and sweet sleep into my life. Remove my anxiety. I cast anxiety out and throw it all at your feet, in Jesus’ name. Fill me with your security and love.

I pray that you will bless my dwelling and give grace to me in my affliction, in Jesus’ name. I pray for the broken people in the world I pray for those who are lost under the curse of sin. I pray for their salvation. I pray for the power and love of God to draw them and bring them to repentance. I pray that you will have mercy on the broken, the orphan, the widow, the poor, the weak. Strengthen the weak knees and set the feet of the unsure on solid ground.

A bruised reed you will not break and a smoldering wick you will not snuff out. I declare that you are good. I pray that you will show your goodness and pour out your Spirit on the church for repentance and healing. Deliver us from evil, and from ourselves. Deliver us unto salvation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
