Today, we will give Jesus our anxiety, things we may be anxious about for Christmas. Do you know what anxiety is?
Anxiety sometimes feels like butterflies in your stomach. It can feel like excitement, but it makes you feel a little uneasy or bad. It is a type of worry. Worry is when we wonder if things will go good or bad.
What is something you may worry about today? Is there anything you have on your mind that makes you feel uneasy? Sometimes we can be afraid we won’t get what we want for Christmas or we may be anxious about seeing people at family parties we haven’t seen in a while who make us feel weird or uncomfortable, just because we don’t know what to say to them.
Do you ever feel that way?
Today, we will give Jesus all our bad feelings when we pray together. God doesn’t want us to live in fear, but in faith, trusting him that he is in charge of everything, including our hearts and minds.
Psalm 139
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
God searches our hearts. When he searches your heart today, what will he find? Will he find you are anxious? Will he find you are thankful for what you have? What will he find you thinking about?

Prayer for kids (Have the children pray this prayer repeated after you and give them a chance to give their difficult thoughts and anxiety to God.)
God, thank you for knowing my heart. I don’t even have to explain it to you, because you already know it. God, I need you to take away my anxious thoughts and give me new thoughts from you.
Today we want to celebrate Jesus and not worry about presents we might not get. Today we want to be like Jesus and not be selfish. Today we want to give to others the love of Jesus, the way Jesus loves us!
Lead us in the way everlasting today, Jesus. Help me not to be anxious about people, but to talk to my mommy and daddy about everything that is bothering me. Help me to also pray and thank God and talk to you about everything that is bothering me.
May I be a blessing this Christmas to my whole family. In Jesus name, Amen!
