What are you doing today, when you hear the news that 90 Christians, including children are captured by ISIS? Do you go numb? Do you keep scrolling? Do you shake your head and shut it out? Do you get afraid?
Are you like my friend who sent me a song and said, “This is what I have been singing and praying over the 90 Christians that were taken captive by ISIS?” Here is the song she sent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2h9Hm9JZho&app=desktop
Do you feel powerless? You actually are. We are all powerless. But, God is powerful and he has endowed us with the right and privilege to pray and sing over the persecuted. This same friend told me months ago that she was awakened in the night to pray for the kidnapped girls in Nigeria. She was distraught and torn inside, feeling as if her own daughters were being kidnapped. Literally, they are our daughters and sons. They are our mothers and fathers. And the next day, I saw in the news where several of the girls were assisted in a daring escape. I am pretty sure that had much to do with the prayers of my beautiful, obedient friend.
May we all be obedient in praying for the persecuted church.
