21 Days of Prayer and Fasting for Our Children and Grandchildren – Day 21- Jesus’ prayer for the disciples

Today, you have come to the end of your 21 days of prayer and fasting. It may be the end of a time of depravation and seeking, but it is not the end of what God will do in your life. It is just beginning.

When Jesus went into the wilderness to fast and pray for 40 days, it was for his preparation for the Father’s call and ministry in his life. The wilderness was a testing where the enemy the devil brought every temptation to him to test him. But Jesus overcame the devil. And when we walk in Christ, we can walk in the victory that he obtained for us on the cross.

Don’t let the enemy lie to you that when the fast is over God is done moving. The fasting is a time of repentance, seeking God and humbling yourself. When these things happen – God will move. Every promise of the Lord is YES and AMEN in Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 says, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

After a fast, you are positioned to receive more in Christ and to walk in more faith and power. As you continue to pray for your children, ask the Lord for direction on how much he wants you to fast in the future. He may have you fast once a week, maybe once a month. He will lead you.

Today, we will close our fast with prayer of Jesus for his disciples (John 17) before he went to the cross. His heart is revealed and God’s will is prayed for those who would be going into the world without the physical Jesus present. They would need the Holy Spirit, instead. Total faith in what God is doing in the unseen world would be needed for victory.

Let’s pray. (Jesus words in regular font, my prayer in italics.)

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. (Father, I have spent my life revealing Jesus to my children. I have poured myself out. You gave me these children. I only have them on loan from you. I pray that they will obey your word. I pray that my children will see that everything from Jesus comes from you, Father God. I pray that they will see Jesus in me.)

For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. (I pray that the words I speak to my children and grandchildren will be from you. I ask that they will see the truth and accept it as from God. I ask that they will see Jesus clearly and trust in him.)

I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. (Lord, I pray for these children and grandchildren you have given to me. I can pray for the world all day long, but Lord, I pray that you will give me focus to pray for my family. You have given them to me as a special calling and responsibility. I lay them at your feet and ask for a supernatural breakthrough.) All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. (Lord, these children belong to you – not me. I pray for you to be glorified through my family. I pray that all the amazing power of Jesus Christ will pour down on my family. ) I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.  (Lord, I know that I raised my children. I cannot go out into the world with them. I ask for your deliverance from evil and from every dark attack that will come against them.)  While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. (Lord, when my children were little, I did everything I could do to protect them from evil. Now I need to trust you to protect them by your holy name – the name of Jesus. I know Judas was lost, but Jesus- none of my children need to be lost to fulfill scripture. I pray for the powerful will of God to be released into the hearts and lives of my children, in Jesus’ name, that they will all walk with you and glorify you.)

“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.  (I ask that my children will turn to you completely so that I can will be able to enjoy watching them walk with you. Please don’t wait until after I die for my children to all walk with you in the security of your love. Please release your love now, so that they can find hope. )

I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. (Lord, I have taught my children to honor you and walk with you. I know that this will bring hatred to their doorsteps. I ask not that you take my children out of the world, but that you move in their lives so they will be able to stand in the day of trouble. I ask that my children will be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.) Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. (I ask that you will sanctify my family from top to bottom. Send your truth to rule and reign in their hearts. In Jesus’ name.)

Jesus Prays for All Believers

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,  that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. (Lord, I ask that you will not only build up my children in holiness. I ask that this young generation around the globe will wake up to the light and the truth. I pray for those my children lead to you. I ask for all of these people who they bring into your kingdom to be changed for the glory of God.) May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.(I ask that my children will also be in you, Oh Lord. Surround them in Jesus’ name. )  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—  I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (I ask that you will give my children the glory of God that they can shine it everywhere they go. I pray for my children and family to unified in truth. I pray that our family will be a sign and symbol of your love, oh Jesus!)

24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. (Lord, I want to enjoy my children and grandchildren in this world. I want us to enjoy your creation together. I want us to work together for your kingdom. Please unleash your glory in them, in Jesus’ name!)

25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.  I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

(Lord, may my children make you known, in Jesus’ name! Amen!)
