It’s a circus out there! I say that with humor, because honestly you have to have a little humor unless you want to be perpetually depressed by the state of the world…or even more serious…the state of the church.
This blog will be short, but hopefully will give you some eye-opening instruction on how to avoid being “deluded” by what is coming on the world in the end times.
I want my readers to know that this post is one of my most serious posts. God promises in 2 Thessalonians 2 that in the end, HE will send a strong delusion on the people, because of what??~ Because “They did not receive the love of truth that they might be saved.” AND “Because they had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
Let’s remember the Lord’s prayer.
“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Satan works by the power of deception to tempt us to sin and believe lies with our own evil desires.
Jesus said the Love of money is the root of all evil. I see so much in our time that points back to this truth. People are deluded. They are lovers of money and lovers of pleasure, instead of lovers of God. I am talking about people who claim to be in Christ, not just the world here.
Right now, people are making decisions for who to vote for for president based on a couple things.
We are to walk by faith not by sight. There are voters, who claim to know Jesus, who would rather choose a candidate for office whom they think will get our country out of a bad financial situation, even if that candidate is all about keeping the butchering of babies and selling their body parts legal. It’s called the Almighty Dollar.
I have to tell you something. This is a delusion. To think that God will bless our country when the Christians start ditching protecting the innocent for protecting their retirement accounts, is rejecting everything that is taught from Genesis to Revelation in scripture. God is not mocked. Don’t think it’s okay to ignore protecting the innocent for money and then turn around and ask God to bless your finances.
May I remind you, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and LEAN NOT on your own understanding. In ALL YOUR WAYS (Even in your voting, even in your thoughts, even in the privacy of your own home…what you watch, what entertains you…)acknowledge HIM and he will make your paths straight.”
You may think that you are not deluded. I never EVER imagine that I am beyond being deluded. I throw myself upon the mercy of God. I know that my spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak.
Here is a short prayer that I pray pretty much all the time in one form or another. It doesn’t take much time. It is surrendering to Jesus and asking him to protect you from delusion and to lead you into all truth.
“Dear Father, in Jesus name, please lead me into all truth. Protect me from the lies of the devil. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one. Do not allow me to fall under the great delusion that is coming and is here on this planet. Please keep my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I thank you that you are able to keep what I have entrusted you with against that day. I want to be like the wise virgins in your parable who kept their lamps full. I don’t want to grow lazy and fall asleep and miss your coming. Fill my life with your Holy Spirit’s power, guidance, truth and direction. Do not allow any sin in my life to open doors to deception. Jesus, show me what you want me to know about, if there is anything in my life that does not please you. Please teach me to walk in your ways. Teach me to value what you value and to love what you love. Do not let my faith or love grow cold in these last days. Keep your fire burning in my heart on the oil of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen!”
This is a pretty short prayer, right? I encourage you to pray a prayer similar to this on a regular basis.
Do a truth-check up daily with The Lord.
Do not neglect meeting with other believers. Neglecting this will make you more susceptible to deception, like an antelope that gets away from the pack on the plains of Africa. God intended us to be surrounded with fellowship for our growth, protection and for the contribution to his kingdom that we make when we are in unity with other believers.
Read God’s Word daily. Ask him to help you with this. I struggle with this sometimes, but even when you are attending church and in circles of believers, it’s easy to get off track and off balance, if we are not in the Word. It’s human nature. Iron sharpens iron and the Word of God is a two-edged sword which divides bone and marrow and reveals the intentions of the heart. When I get confused, God sends me back to his Word to wash away the confusion and to center me on Jesus.
When you are confronted with truth in God’s Word that opposes a delusion you have believed, it will be difficult and confusing. Are you willing to face that with Jesus and grasp onto the truth? This will require admitting you are wrong and confessing that to God. The question is…are you willing to be wholly committed to Christ?
Take time every day to simply pray, “God, expose and remove lies from my heart and life. Teach me. Protect me from evil. Protect me from my own weaknesses. Do not allow me to be deceived. Strengthen my heart for the battle. In Jesus name, Amen.”
2 Thessalonians 2 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
