The Beast is Rising

The book of Revelation can seem confusing. For years I didn’t read it much, because it scared me a LOT. As I got older, though, the Holy Spirit has been calling me back to the book of Revelation to search it for myself, in conjunction with the other end times prophecies in the Bible to hear his voice and what he is saying. I did NOT do a study from another book. Honestly, a lot of what I hear and read from many end times authors sounds like a stretch, at best, to me.

However, after 9-11-01, I began taking a peek into the book of Revelation. At that time, something spoke to my heart about the 10 kings without kingdoms in Revelation chapter 17:12. Somehow, I knew they were Islamic princes or something related and that is all I knew or understood. That is all, i believe, The Holy Spirit revealed to me.

Since then, with the craziness in the world, I have continued to read off and on. Why? Some ask me why would I care? Because, frankly, I don’t want to just “trust” what other people say about the end times. There are so many people with so many different theories and most of them do NOT even come close to agreeing. They all confidently assert they know what they are talking about. So, I just ask God and read the Bible. It’s not that I don’t listen to what other people say, but really, our job is to study the scriptures via the power of the Holy Spirit, not to study other people’s works. Who is to say if they were led by the Spirit or their own logic? I can tell you for sure that most are led by something other than the Spirit, because there are TONS of interpretations out there and they all are not correct.

That being said, I want to say that I have prayed about this, but am not at all asserting that what I am saying is straight from The Lord. What I am about to write is something that I just had an “epiphany on” after reading about the beheading of the 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians and feeling led by the Holy Spirit to read Revelation 13. So, I encourage you to pray about this as well to see if The Lord confirms this with you.

Revelation 13 says:

“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne and great authority.”

My first assertion here is that the sea represents the sea of humanity. This is a “beast” rising up out of the peoples of the earth. How do I know this? Revelation 17 it tells us what the waters represents in context. Remember that when we read the scriptures, as they were written, there were no chapter and verse designations. So, if we read the flow from Revelation 12 on, we see the reference to sea and waters several times mentioned through those verses. So, I will assume to take it in context with the previous chapters.

Rev 17:15 “Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

So, the beast will rise up from the nations. We see this now. Islam is rising from the nations. Everywhere we look, people from every nation are rising up to join with ISIS. Senator Ted Cruz is even proposing a bill to congress to expatriate those Americans who leave to join and fight with ISIS. I just had a thought from The Lord that ISIS rising up from the nations and going to the middle east to fight against Jews and Christians and to bring about the Islamic Caliphate is a Satanic copy of the diaspora returning to Israel to usher in the kingdom through the second coming of Jesus Christ. All over the world, Jewish people are returning to the land of their fathers, fulfilling prophecy after prophecy in the Old and New Testament. We are seeing a parallel movement in the Islamic world, like chess pieces moving into position for a final battle.

The muslims are awaiting the last Imam to usher in a sharia law compliant, one world Islamic rule. The Jews are awaiting their messiah. Jesus/Yeshua is the messiah of the Jews and the whole world. He came once and he will return again. He came first as Emmanuel, God with us, in the form of a baby to be a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. (Revelation 12 speaks of his first coming in prophetic prose.) His death removes the stain of our sins, as we repent and trust in him. His resurrection from the dead raises us up from our sinful state and seats us in the heavenly realms with Christ himself. He will return again. This time he will come in a glorified state on a white horse to judge the quick and the dead and the sons of men.

I won’t go into detail about the 7 heads and 10 horns, except that I believe this represents (somehow) the Islamic leaders we see with fractured infighting, joining together in one purpose to wage war against the Saints of God. I’m not going to claim I know all the details on this. I listened to a very popular pastor today give all kinds of strange detail on this. I have no idea where he got his special Bible de-coder pen. He was pretty confident about it, but I really don’t see what he was saying in this passage at all.

In verse 2, we see the beast and the DRAGON gives him his authority. Who is the dragon? In Revelation 12, we know the dragon is Satan. Satan gives the beast his authority. When Jesus was tempted in the desert by Satan, Satan offered him his authority. Jesus didn’t contest that Satan had authority. He just rejected Satan’s way and Satan’s authority for the authority of God’s will through the cross. Satan, here is putting all his authority behind Islam (I believe). Again, this is just my opinion. Not saying this is God’s authoritative Word. Pray about this.

Revelation 13:3 says, “And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.”

While I don’t know exactly what this is, I have a couple guesses. One is that this is speaking of the break up of the Ottoman Empire. At one point in history, our ancestors found themselves in life and death battles between Islam and Christendom. However, after the enlightenment, Islam, because of it’s oppressive nature, did not grow culturally and scientifically the way the West did. The West literally did not view Islam as a threat anymore. However, here we are ALL MARVELING. How is it that this movement of radical Islam is growing in a way that is literally a threat to the West? It is also possible, that it is speaking of what happened in Iraq. After the toppling of Saddam Hussein, Iraq was more democratic. However, the rise of Isis has raised up Islamic radicalism from the dead in Iraq. Anyways, I am sure there are more educated people on the subject with more specific insights. This is NOT a person or animal like creature who is raised from the dead. This beast from the sea is specifically referred to throughout chapters 13-18 as an entity or collection of kingdoms uniting against Israel and the bride of Christ.

ANYWAYS, notice the scripture says they all followed the beast. (vs. 3) Boko Haram and other violent Islamic sects are pledging their allegiance to ISIS. The more this grows, the more and more we see it uniting and people all over the middle east following.

Verse 4 So they worshiped the dragon (SATAN) who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast saying “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

So, if I am correct, this means that those who are doing this are really worshipping Satan. Also, people are “respecting Islam”. People all over the west are afraid to say anything against Islam. While you see many eager to disrespect Jesus and Christians, many are venerating Islam, for FEAR of coming under attack or making war with Islamic jihadists.

And he was given a mouth speaking real things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.

This happens all the time in the middle east and beyond where we see this jihad-minded belief. The forty-two months…I have no idea, except that (Hallelujah, Jesus!) it’s time is limited. Some say this is the three and a half years in the tribulation. I choose not to speculate on that in this blog.

6-7 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Sound familiar? Authority, as we saw earlier, seems to still be Satan giving the beast authority over the saints. This is difficult.  We see this happening everywhere.

8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If anyone has ear to ear, let him hear.

So, if you look at the world as the world of Jesus’s day, this is exactly what is happening in the middle east and all areas that Islam dominates. All of the middle east used to be Christian. In fact, ISIS and Islamic militants are utterly destroying the last of the Christian strongholds in the middle east, taking down cities, towns and churches that have claims to the very beginnings of Christianity. Literally, in the world where this is happening, your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life or you worship in the way of Islam. There is no black or white when your life hangs in the balance.

10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. NKJV

10 If anyone [g]is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the [h]perseverance and the faith of the [i]saints. NASB

It seems that God is telling us that terrible things will happen with the sword. There was a time, about 20 years ago when this passage seemed obsolete. But, here we see it, playing out. The end times persecution is really against the believers with knives and swords. We need to know, because God told us ahead of time that this would happen. We need patience and faith to endure this.

WORLD LEADER Anti-Christ

vs 11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

There is arising a world leader (the beast from the earth) who will APPEAR to be peace-loving. He will appear as a LAMB. However, he will speak the dragon’s language, which we know means he will LIE. He will use lies to deceive the world into worshipping/respecting the beast (Islam.) Hmmm. His authority is from Satan, because he uses the authority of the beast.

MIRACLES OR SIGNS?

Many people have referenced this next passage as a sign that the anti-Christ will produce miracles that will deceive many. This is the passage that totally and completely grabbed me this morning and inspired me to write this incredibly long blog. So, if you’ve made it to the end, you are getting ready to read something that I’ve never read anywhere, and am just throwing out there for you to read and pray about.

v. 14 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast (for the muslims to see? my words in parenthesis), telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

The people of Islam are looking for SIGNS. They are looking for their last Imam. When they see a leader rising in the world that unites the world of Islam to make war against the Saints, THIS IS A SIGN FOR THEM!!!! This will include all abilities to make war, including the use of nuclear weapons. (make fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.) Did the Apostle John see a nuclear holocaust that would happen at the hands of the Anti-Christ? This certainly would be, in the eyes of a muslim, a SIGN of power and a sign that they should join behind this man for the final war between Islam and the saints of God.

I know that many prophecies have been made about nuclear war in a coming World War 3. Is it possible that God foretold this in Revelation for us to see? There is more to see, in Revelation 17, how the beast is instrumental in destroying the woman Babylon with fire. Please read:

The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition. The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for HE is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen and faithful. “

Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and BURN HER WITH FIRE. (reference the anti-Christ will make fire come down on the earth.) For GOD HAS PUT IT INTO THEIR HEARTS TO FULFILL HIS PURPOSE, TO BE OF ONE MIND, AND TO GIVE THEIR KINGDOM TO THE BEAST, UNTIL THE WORDS OF GOD ARE FULFILLED.”

Okay, so that is freaking me out! We see that KINGS of the world will give their kingdom to the beast (ISLAM and Anti-Christ), until the Words of God are fulfilled. They will join together to destroy Babylon the Great. (WITH FIRE) (NUCLEAR?)

I know there are many people with many theologies out there. I am not claiming to know everything. What I do know is that AFTER the persecution of the Saints in chapter 13 and 14, THEN we see the wrath of God being poured out. Many people who believe in pre-tribulation rapture do not believe anything bad will happen to us in the US, because they believe we will be raptured out. However, I assert that you can believe in the pre-tribulation rapture and SEE (according to Revelation 13-16) that the persecution of the Saints, including fire falling from heaven happens BEFORE the bowls of wrath are poured out. (We are not appointed to wrath.)

Why do I say this? God says we need patient endurance. We need to be prepared for what is happening now and not turn our backs on our brothers and sisters in Christ who are experiencing this. We need to pray, fast, and support them. We cannot be assured a life of ease. Do not think that as we begin to see these things happening that God is not working or that the Lord is not keeping his word. Do not lose heart. Know that God told us these things would happen so we can be prepared spiritually and to share the gospel with those who are lost.

In the middle of all of this chaos, we see this picture in Revelation 14 of the beautiful church of Jesus Christ and an angel:

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth-to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people- saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgement has come; and worship Him who made  heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

In the middle of all of this chaos, God is calling everyone everywhere to return to their creator and to the GOOD NEWS that Jesus Christ saves us from sin. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to God except through him. In the middle of chaos, God is calling people to turn from wickedness and fear and to turn to him for salvation. Are you ready for the return of Jesus Christ? Are your sins forgiven? Are you pure before God? Know that he is ready to purify you with the blood of the Lamb of God. Repent. Turn from your sin and know that God loves you and is ready to write your name in the Lamb’s book of life!

I am looking forward to any comments or thoughts on this little bit I’ve written. Thank you for taking the time to read.

There are many thoughts on who/what Babylon is. Here is a very important prophetic word from Dimitri Dudeman on the possibility of America being Babylon the Great. I have more to say about this, but I trust him, after you hear his testimony…you may too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTUyS9WkZXo

  1. Briana, this was just so well written and I can tell that The Lord has certainly put this on your heart to share. Do you know what really amazes me too? I have several bibles but the one I was reading out of when you said that you read Rev. 13, I looked up in my bible to read first, prior to reading what you shared. Anyway, this is the only chapter in Revelation that I have highlighted…I highlighted Rev. 13:5-10 (at least in this bible that I’m looking at). It’s so faded because it’s been a few years since I highlighted it. I think it was probably @2 years ago. I felt a stirring in my heart that as Christians, we may have to endure persecutions and “beheadings” of all things is what I felt The Lord tell me. I actually shared this with some kids from youth group because we were on the topic of persecution for Christ. I mentioned how as Christians, we could be beheaded for this and would we be able to do that for the name of Christ. This was a few years before beheadings was becoming headlines on the news. I told them that I believe that as Stephen was being stoned to death and saw Heaven, it would be the same as Christians who are beheaded. Jesus would be with us, should that ever happen. This was probably a year before my brain tumor in ’13 so maybe I wasn’t all together “with it” but I had a passion to share that this could be something that happens in our world and to be sure to pray for those who don’t know Jesus as well as the persecuted church. ISIS started beheadings last year. I agree with you on what you have shared. It’s such a complicating subject but I believe that The Lord speaks to each of us on the level that we all can understand. At least that’s the case for me, lol. There are some points that you mentioned that I hadn’t even thought of but makes total sense. In Rev. 12:12 “….He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” This truly is all part of God’s plan and I love what you said about how “the chess pieces are moving into place for the final battle” ! So true. Also the part of fire coming from heaven…I’m also thinking nuclear and John was seeing all of this and prophesied it. It’s our job to not ignore this as some seem to do as if it’s not important. It’s very important. We need to know what will take place so as the end unfolds, we won’t be surprised, but ready! I want to pray all the more for those who are unsaved because those of us who are, even though we may have to endure persecution, will be in heaven. no matter how we die. They will be separated from God forever. Our world needs Jesus. Come back quickly, Lord!!!!
Thanks again for sharing and taking time to share what The Lord is showing you. He is getting us ready for battle! Makes me think of the old Petra song….”This means WAR!” 🙂 We have Jesus so no need to worry.

    1. Julie, thanks for taking the time to read. I provided two very reliable links, as well. I do believe our focus needs to be on doing God’s work while we can! We have what we have from The Lord is definitely to give us insight so we won’t be surprised when it happens. Also, we need to be not afraid to teach others, just like you are doing! Great job preparing the next generation!

  2. My own thoughts on the beast are slightly different …. I think of the beast as a world power that has dominion over many nations … i.e., the EU (the Revived Roman Empire) or perhaps another entity hidden for now that has far-reaching influence and power(s) over the nations. Obviously, Islam has a role in taking away peace from the Middle-East and for sure, they are anti-christ. I always thought of Islam as the Second Seal (Revelation Chapter 6:4) — the Red Horse “… and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given him a great sword.” The Third Seal is famine. The Fourth Seal pestilance. Fifth are the martyrs.
Sixth a great earthquake, sun becomes darkened, … great upheaval on the earth. And the Seventh Seal starts the wrath of God. Before the Seventh Seal — God puts His seal on the 144,000 — so they will be protected and there appears a great multitude in heaven wearing white robes (perhaps this is after the rapture has taken place … we are safe with God … while His wrath is being poured out on the earth’s inhabitants.)

When I think of Islam … I don’t think of it as a world power that has unlimited authority or reach. But, certainly the world powers that are anti-Israel and anti-Christian do feed into Islam sending money and arms so that they can wage war on the saints (and Israel). The Beast will be a world power that controls everything on the earth.

The Bible talks about 10 horns which have received no kingdom as yet — but will receive power as kings with the beast for one hour. (One hour meaning several weeks.) So … this is all a future event. Leaders — 10 of them — will receive power and a kingdom (of some sort) for one hour. But 17:13 –“These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” So, if they are world leaders … they turn over their authority and strength (armies) over to the beast. Verse 14: And they shall make war with the Lamb — talk about an all consuming hatred for Christ!

Anyhow — that’s my take on it …. I believe the Antichrist is alive … as is the False Prophet and the Beast. Everything we see beginning to unfold on the earth is pointing to the Return of Messiah and the End of Days. Amen. Like yourself I am praying that we will stay faithful and worthy for what God has ordained for us — His Bride.

  3. Gracie, here is a very, very good resource with way more info than I could put in this blog on Islam.
This is part 1 in the series with Walid Shoebat. He goes into lots of detail on Islam and Bible prophecy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-zX9d1Yt3g&list=PL02B892453DB4E07F

I think that it’s good to keep seeking The Holy Spirit as we walk in these end times. There are many people who have different takes, and I think what we may see is various people have different pieces of the puzzle. I think Islam is a major player. If you listen to all Walid has to say in this conference, you may find the excitement I found in jumping right back into the scriptures to see if what he is saying is true.

    Thank you for your input.
